Keeping Christmas Memories Close:

Día de Los Reyes Majo

A Very "Wise" Hispanic Holiday Celebrates Christmas Giving in January

Though Christmas 2006 has ended, on Sunday, January 6, Hispanic families celebrated the annual Día de Los Reyes Majo to commemorate the day when the Three Wise Men, following the star to Bethlehem, arrived bearing their treasured gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh for the Baby Jesus.

Día de Los Reyes Majo is a heart-warming and festive remembrance that includes a ritual in which children write letters to the Wise Men in general (or to their favorite Rey Mago: Melchor, Gaspar, or Baltasar) asking them what presents they would like to receive.
