Sunday, October 18, 2020, has been formally designated as this year’s National Catholic Daughter Sunday and a formal proclamation has been issued. There have been stories in the Court News section of SHARE about courts having Proclamation signings, sometimes by the mayors of cities.
Immediate Past National Regent Olga Samaniego explains.
“The National CDA Sunday Proclamations go back to a time when most of our courts were in small towns. Traditionally a proclamation is presented to a mayor or city councilman, and often that councilman or mayor is invited to present the proclamation himself or herself at a meeting or reception.”
“Regents should present the Proclamation early enough to give the representative or mayor time to sign and to put the presentation on his or her schedule.”
Though the Proclamations are not used as often as in the past, a formal Proclamation signing can be an uplifting ceremony.
